Bandcamp Fridays will go on for the rest of 2020.
Earlier this year, in March, Bandcamp waived its revenue fees to help support artists during the pandemic. In April, the site announced its plans to continue waiving fees for the first Friday of each month, for three months. Now, the platform has stated that Bandcamp Fridays will continue for the rest of the year as “the pandemic is far from over”. The next dates are 7 August, 4 September, 2 October, 6 November and 4 December.
Over $20 million has been sent to artists since Bandcamp Fridays was first launched. Last month, on Juneteenth, the platform donated all of its share of sales to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
