Two British icons come together for a one-off special.

Dave and Sir David Attenborough have come together for a new one-off musical wildlife special on the BBC. Titled Planet Earth: A Celebration, the programme will also feature work from composer Hans Zimmer.

The show will be comprised of clips from the Attenborough-fronted Planet Earth II and Blue Planet II, with a new voiceover from the celebrated naturalist. Zimmer has reworked the original Planet Earth score and added new compositions. The string section of the score will be performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra, with Dave joining on the grand piano.

Speaking about the special, Dave said: “I’ve always been a fan of powerful natural history documentaries. This is a programme where nature and music come together, so it was only right that I lent my talent, my time, and my attention to this project. It was a pleasure to work alongside Sir David Attenborough and Hans Zimmer.”

A release date for Planet Earth: A Celebration has not been announced but it is expected to air on BBC One at the end of August.
