Ariel Pink says he attended the US Capitol riots “to peacefully show my support for the president”

Mobs of Trump supporters overwhelmed security and stormed the capitol building yesterday (6 January) in an act that is being described as an attack on the American democratic system.

In attendance of the rally was Ariel Pink. Responding to comments online he denied joining in the riots saying “i attended the rally on the white house lawn and went back to hotel and took a nap. case closed,”.

Ariel Pink, real name Ariel Rosenberg was pictured in an Instagram post, tagged in Washington DC where he can be seen laying on a hotel bed with fellow singer-songwriter John Maus. The image was posted by film director Alex Lee Moyer who also shared a story of the three on the capitol lawn in the midst of protestors.

The caption on the post read “The day we almost died but had a great time instead” and soon gained a lot of traction online before he signed off the social media flurry with a Tweet saying, “vote for trump.”.

In the past, Pink has been under public criticism following statements claiming, “It’s not illegal to be racist” and that same sex marriage “pisses him off’.

Meanwhile, as more footage flooded social media Jamiroquai began an unlikely trend on Twitter as users began comparing lead singer Jay Kay to one of the rioters that made it into the Senate chamber.
