The Brainfeeder label head revealed there was an EP in the works.
Flying Lotus and MF DOOM have collaborated on a number of occasions, but the Brainfeeder producer revealed yesterday (31 December) that the pair were working on a joint EP.
DOOM passed away on 31 October, and his death was confirmed by his wife, Jasmine, yesterday. In reaction to the news, FlyLo tweeted: “My soul is crushed. The weight of this moment.” A fan commented saying that they had hoped for a full-length project between the two artists, and FlyLo responded with: “I hate to say this but we were actually working on an EP. There were more songs that I haven’t even heard.”

DOOM recently released the Flying Lotus-produced track Lunch Break, which also features contributions from Thundercat and Dorian Concept. The track was released via Grand Theft Auto Online after the game updated its playlists and Flylo FM – a fictional station programmed by Flying Lotus. DOOM and Flylo had previously contributed the track Masquatch to the game.
In the run-up to the New Year, FlyLo launched a Twitch stream that paid tribute to DOOM. The artist is rebroadcasting it today (1 January) from 10pm (GMT) or 2pm (PST). Stream it here.
