One Step Closer (100 gecs Reanimation) is the first in a new series of Hybrid Theory remixes.
100 gecs have dropped a new remix of Linkin Park’s tune One Step Closer. The original song featured on Linkin Park’s debut album Hybrid Theory, which turned 20 last year.
The remix is dubbed One Step Closer (100 gecs Reanimation) and as Pitchfork reports, forms part of a new series of Hybrid Theory remixes. Speaking in a press release, Linkin Park band member Mike Shinoda said, “Part of the spirit of Reanimation was to take the Hybrid Theory songs that people knew so well, and let innovative artists flip them in ways nobody expected…I think 100 gecs did exactly that.”
Last summer, 100 gecs released their own remix project titled 1000 gecs and the Tree of Clues. It saw the likes of A. G. Cook, Fall Out Boy, Hannah Diamond and more taking on tracks from gecs’ debut album, 1000 gecs.
