After cancelling its 2020 edition due to the pandemic, MaerzMusik returns this year.

The Berlin festival has announced its upcoming edition. This year, the event will take place online from 19 to 28 March and it’ll make use of a wide variety of digital formats such as VR.

Last year’s edition was titled The Beginning of Time and this year’s chapter was to be named End of Time. Now, the team behind the festival have announced that they will be merging the two themes to present Festival of Time Issues.

This year’s programme will showcase a series of works focused on the Egyptian American composer and musician Halim El-Dabh. Pioneering artist Éliane Radigue will present the three-hour show Trilogie de la Mort, which will be live streamed from Zeiss-Großplanetarium. Composer and scientist George Lewis has developed a programme based on the theme Afro-Modernism in Contemporary Music. Furthermore, the Berlin event will culminate with the 30-hour live stream experience THE LONG NOW.
