The National have collaborated with photographer Graham MacIndoe on a new photography book entitled Light Years.

Back in 2001, MacIndoe took the band’s first official publicity photo. The forthcoming book is set to chart their 20-year relationship and features black-and-white images taken inside the studio, backstage and out on the road. Light Years will also include essays and quotes from The National band members. According to MacIndoe, “It’s been many years in the making, and there wasn’t a concrete book idea until about a year ago.”

Light Years will be accompanied by a vinyl LP featuring songs selected by MacIndoe and band member Scott Devendorf from The National’s 2018 performances at Forest Hills Stadium in New York.

You can pre-order Light Years exclusively through The National’s Cherry Tree fanclub. As outlined in the band’s announcement post, Light Years is limited to 3,200 copies, with a signed bookplate edition of 400. A portion of proceeds raised from the signed edition will be donated to The National’s tour crew.
