Kevin Martin has announced his next release.
The artist has rescored Andrei Tarkovsky’s seminal 1972 film Solaris. Entitled Return to Solaris, the LP is out on 25 June via Phantom Limb. You can listen to the first single, In Love With a Ghost, below and pre-order it via Bandcamp.
Martin said via a press statement that he was drawn to the film’s “narrative struggle between organic, pastoral memories of a lost past, and the harsh, dystopian realities of a futuristic hell”.
Solaris is based on a science fiction novel of the same name, penned by Stanislaw Lem. The 1972 film was originally scored by Edward Artemyev and the Electronic Music Experiment Studio Ensemble. The 2002 remake, directed by Steven Soderbergh, was soundtracked by Cliff Martinez.
