Tyler, the Creator releases new Side Street teaser

The Odd Future innovator stars in the new visual.

Tyler, the Creator has dropped a new teaser video entitled Side Street. In the new visual, Tyler can be seen kissing a woman against a pink classic car while holding onto a dog’s lead. Fellow Odd Future member Taco also features in the new clip, which appears to have two alternative versions: one with Tyler reversing away, and the other with him driving in the opposite direction. Both versions conclude with a starry title card that read “Call Me If You Get Lost”. Watch the version shared to Tyler’s Twitter page below.

The new teaser arrives less than a week after billboards also featuring the phrase “Call Me If You Get Lost” – alongside a hotline number and the Columbia Records logo – sprung up in various locations, promoting many to believe the artist had commenced the rollout of his next musical project. Tyler’s last two albums (2017’s Flower Boy and 2019’s IGOR) were released via Columbia. The hotline number featured on the billboards led to an automated recording of Tyler and his mother in conversation, with an instrumental heard in the background.

Last year, Tyler wore a custom Golf Le Fleur bellhop outfit to the 2020 Grammy Awards. Fans have drawn connections between the outfit and the trunk  Tyler carried down the red carpet with the new billboard and video clips. The trunk’s tag also featured the words “Call Me If You Get Lost”.

That same night, Tyler took home the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album for Igor. Speaking backstage after his acceptance speech, Tyler admitted to being torn over the victory, criticising the Grammys’ tendency to place Black artists in rap and urban categories. “I’m half and half on it. On the one side I am very grateful that what I made can be acknowledged in a world like this…” he said. “But it sucks that whenever we, and I mean guys that look like me, do anything that’s genre-bending or anything, they always put it in a rap or urban category.”
