Unreleased Wes Anderson music to soundtrack new museum exhibition

The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)

The Accidentally Wes Anderson score includes music from frequent collaborator Mark Mothersbaugh.

Tulsa’s Philbrook Museum of Art is set to host a new exhibition showcasing works from Instagram account @accidentallywesanderson. This Is An Adventure: Accidentally Wes Anderson – which is expected to open to the public this autumn – will be soundtracked by previously unheard music from some of Wes Anderson’s films. The score features tracks from frequent Anderson collaborator and composer Mark Mothersbaugh, who’s worked on several of the director’s films such as 1996’s Bottle Rocket, The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic. He’s also co-founder of new wave band Devo.

The new exhibition will present photographs and imagery captured by the popular Instagram account’s online community, plus equally inspired images of Tulsa and surrounding areas selected from submissions by local Philbrook residents.

Anderson’s latest film, The French Dispatchwas slated for release last year. However, it was delayed due to the pandemic. It eventually premiered earlier this month at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, and will be released publicly on 22 October.

This Is An Adventure: Accidentally Wes Anderson is scheduled to run from 17 September to 2 January, 2022 at Philbrook Museum of Art. Find out more about the exhibition here.
