The forthcoming film festival will also include installations, panel discussions and live performances from the likes of Mark Fell, Rian Treanor and Giant Swan.
The Norient Film Festival (NFF) has unveiled its programme for its 11th edition, set to take place from 12 to 16 January in Bern, Switzerland, and online.
The upcoming edition was co-curated by Norient – the Swiss organisation behind the international music film festival – and a multidisciplinary team from India, the UK, Lebanon, Switzerland and more.
2022 programme highlights include Darius Marder’s Academy Award-winning film Sound of Metal (starring Riz Ahmed) as well as screening of documentaries A Punk Daydream and Shut Up Sona, which follow a group of young punks in Indonesia, and the life of a female background singer in Bollywood respectively. There will also be a screening of Max Richter’s Sleep – a documentary about the composer’s landmark eight-hour musical piece Sleep.
The festival will also present a programme of talks, panel discussions, concerts, DJ sets and audiovisual shows alongside the film screenings. Planet Mu signee Rian Treanor will play out at the Bern event on 15 January, with former Crack Magazine cover stars Giant Swan also billed. Mark Fell, Julian Sartorius, Leah Walker, Princess P and Ruth & Res Margot are among the other acts confirmed in the programme announcement. NFF will also screen Giant Swan’s own short film Flight of the Giant Swan, which was shot by the duo’s manager Joe Hatt during the pair’s 2019 tour.
Norient Film Festival will run from 12-16 January, 2022. Head to the festival’s site for tickets and further programme information, and revisit the Giant Swan cover story.
