The charity has teamed up with dance music promoters, artists, collectives and more on the new initiative, which will raise funds for children in conflict areas.

War Child UK has launched a new fundraising platform entitled The Right To Dance. The new project, launched today (2 November), will support the charity’s work in countries such as Afghanistan, DRC, Iraq and Yemen through a monthly membership scheme tailored towards dance music fans.

Working in collaboration with brands, labels, collectives and promoters from the global dance music industry – including We Out Here Festival, Audio-Technica, LWE and foundation.fm, alongside Crack Magazine – The Right To Dance will offer subscribers access to exclusive events, new mixes, merch collaborations and more.

The first entry into the monthly TRTD Mix series comes courtesy of South African DJ and producer DJ Lag. Speaking on his involvement in the project, DJ Lag said: “War Child have always understood the music space well and this specific campaign has an electronic music focus which felt like a very honest fit.Obviously the organisation is doing amazing work with children and young people around the world and to be part of those efforts is truly a privilege.”

The Right To Dance will be producing and sharing content that celebrates underground music scenes, movements and pioneers. The first two features focus on David Mancuso and The Loft, and queer Ugandan club culture. The project will also host fundraising events, with the first of which taking place on 5 December at Oval Space and Pickle Factory. The line-up for the event, which is a Yemen Emergency Fundraiser, will be unveiled on Thursday (4 November) with tickets going live on the same day.

The Right To Dance memberships start at £3 per month. Find out more and sign up here
