The first names are in for Ortigia Sound System 2022.
The Italian festival, which takes place on the Sicilian island of Ortigia, will return for its eight edition on 27-31 July.
The event’s first artist announcement boasts a pair of former Crack Magazine and The Collections cover stars: Anz and Loraine James. Elsewhere, the likes of Overmono, Kelly Lee Owens, Shanti Celeste and Call Super have also been announced.
Lyra Pramuk, Moritz von Oswald Trio, Laurel Halo and Nihiloxica will also head to the festival for its forthcoming edition. For 2022, OSS has lined up a Hivern Discs showcase, with Barcelona-based DJ, producer and label boss John Talabot confirmed alongside Eva Geist and Lamusa II.
The festival theme for 2022 is ΜIƬO. “We are preparing to face a post-pandemic era, while projecting ourselves towards a new world made up of new means of communication and ways of interpreting artistic and cultural languages,” reads a statement penned by OSS organisers. “This significant historical moment makes us responsible for writing a new ΜIƬO, in an attempt to raise ourselves towards a new narrative that constitutes the history and culture from which Ortigia Sound System Festival was born.”
Head to the festival’s website for more information, and listen back to Call Super’s landmark Crack Mix 300 entry.
