London studios The Qube is helping to support young music creators with their first talent development programme.
Open for 18 to 25 year olds, the four-week intensive course will offer insight into the music industry for eight individuals looking to take their career to the next level. Participants will receive mentorship, workshops and artist talks from a wide range of industry professionals.
Talks will be helmed by award-winning production trio TMS – who’ve worked on Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia – mix engineer Manon Grande Jean (who’s collaborated with Stormzy and Dave) and Worldwide FM’s Charlie Dark. In addition to the four-week programme, participants will get a six month Qube membership.
Located in west London, The Qube is a unique members club and community for creatives. With this new programme, Qube seeks to offer opportunities to young creatives who face social and financial barriers to getting into the music industry. Co-founder of The Qube Nicholas Sonuga says: “We decided to launch Qube Futures as a way to engage with talented young creatives who may not typically have the means to pursue a career in their chosen field.”
“This is a subject close to my heart,” he adds. “As a young producer trying to make a living in music, I often found myself struggling with confidence and doubting my ability to carve out a sustainable career path. I found the industry somewhat of an insular environment, with a closed circle of gatekeepers and tastemakers. I lacked positive reinforcement from peers and mentors, making for a lonely pursuit. We’ve decided to create an alternative to help democratise the system and open our doors to the next generation.”
Applications are open from today (17 February) and close on 2 March. The programme begins on 19 April. Head to The Qube’s site to apply.
