The Winter Olympics are currently underway in Beijing, and French dance duo Daft Punk made a surprise appearance during last night’s (6 February) figure skating team event.
US Olympians Madison Chock and Evan Bates took to the ice to perform a free dance set to music by Daft Punk. The pair’s routine was soundtracked by a medley of songs taken from Daft Punk’s final album, Random Access Memories. Snippets from tracks Within, Contact and Touch were played during the performance, which helped Team USA win silver in the team event. Check out Chock and Bates in action below.

Daft Punk split up in February 2021 after 28 years of making music together. The pair announced the news via a eight-minute video titled Epilogue.
The duo, made up of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, were first formed in 1993 in Paris. Across decades, they released eight LPs, including their landmark debut Homework in 1997. Some of their most recognisable singles include 2013’s Get Lucky, 2007’s One More Time and 2001’s Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.
