The venue has been fully renovated after an arson attack in 2021.

SWX has announced that it will reopen its doors from 9 September. Following the major fire last year, the venue has now be refurbished and has shared details of shows locked in for its autumn programme. This includes the recently reformed Sugababes, who are set to take to the stage as the first performance on their upcoming tour, Black Midi, Julia Jacklin and Joey Bada$$. There’s also former Crack Magazine cover star Rema in September and The Horrors are slated to play in November.

SWX has been operating as a nightclub since the 1970s, and prior to that was a concert venue that saw the likes of Beach Boys and The Faces play. The central Bristol venue is set to share more details of its full renovation soon.

Speaking on the reopening, Dominic Madden, the CEO of Electric Group – who have run SWX since 2017 – said, “I’m delighted to announce the reopening of our beloved SWX music venue. SWX has been an integral part of the musical fabric of Bristol since the 1960’s and we are very excited to share our exciting vision and reimagination of SWX following the devastating arson attack of June 21 which so badly damaged our venue.” He further detailed that the venue upgrade includes improving the space’s accessibility.
