KMRU, Molly Nilsson and DJ Marcelle announced for Berlin’s Underground Institute Festival

The three-day event will take place at various Berlin venues on 8-10 December.

With a focus on adventurous music and sound art spanning electronic, pop and more, the line-up features the likes of Zoë Mc Pherson, DJ Marcelle and Molly Nilsson – the latter of whom will take part in the festival’s opening talks alongside Underground Institute founder Mary Ocher and Suicide’s Martin Rev. KMRU has also been confirmed for a sound installation taking place at artist-run space gr_und in Wedding. The festival will also present its programme – which consists of live performances, talks, workshops, DJ sets and listening sessions – at Silent Green and Panke club.

Lolina, El Khat and Xiu Xiu, who will play a DJ set, are among the other acts confirmed for the upcoming festival, which is staged by international artist-run booking agency, label and management collective Underground Institute. The event’s programme has been curated by musicians  Mary Ocher and Manu Louis in collaboration with amSTART.

Festival talks will cover topics such as ‘what is underground music?’ and electronic and experimental music outside of Western standards. The 2019 music documentary Eletronica-Mentes, from director Dácio Pinheiro, will also be screened at the weekender.
