This is the second single from Stormzy’s forthcoming album This Is What I Mean, slated for release on 25 November.

Stormzy has shared new track Firebabe which features guest vocals from Sampha, Jacob Collier and rising artist Debbie, who is also on the 0207 Def Jam  label. The single is produced by George Moore and comes accompanied by a video from British director Edem Wornoo, providing fittingly emotive and reflective visuals to accompany the track.

“Debbie, George [Moore] and I got in the studio together and it was the most beautiful moment. It was a session I’ll never forget, for the rest of my life. It was extremely special and everyone in the room understood that.” Stormzy said, speaking on the collaborative element of Firebabe. Continuing: “We were making something that hopefully, God willing, lives forever. Something that has soul and feeling and it came from a really pure place. We took a truth and made some art from it.”

Firebabe follows on from previous single Hide & Seek. At the end of September, Stormzy also dropped new track Mel Made Me Do It. Clocking in at over 10 minutes, the accompanying video featured a heavyweight cast including Top Boy stars and musicians Little Simz and Dave plus the likes of Louis Theroux, Trevor Nelson, Malorie Blackman, Tiana Major9, Usain Bolt and a tribute to the late SB.TV founder Jamal Edwards. We previously spoke to six artists on their SB.TV video shoots.

Stormzy’s new album This Is What I Mean is set for release via 0207 Def Jam and marks his third record. To celebrate the album, this week he announced ‘This Is What We Mean Day‘ which will be a day event held at Victoria Park on 18 August 2023 in collaboration with All Points East.
