HowTheLightGetsIn finalises 2023 line-up

The music and philosophy festival returns to Hay-on-Wye, Wales from 26-29 May.

HowTheLightGetsIn has announced the final additions to its programme, which includes headliner Gruff Rhys. The Welsh composer and producer, who also fronts Super Furry Animals, has just released his soundtrack for The Almond and the Seahorse – a new film starring Charlotte Gainsbourg and Rebel Wilson.

Elsewhere, Anna Meredith is set to make her debut at the festival, whilst Grammy nominees Zero 7 and Belle and Sebastian are confirmed for DJ sets. Other names on the bill are Rachel Sermanni, Melin Melyn and Allysha Joy.

In addition to music, HowTheLightGetsIn hosts a programme of talks and debates with Billy Bragg, Slavoj Žižek and Owen Jones coming through for the forthcoming edition. Other speakers confirmed include foreign affairs specialist Fiona Hill, novelist Esther Freud and former archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams.
