Aphex Twin releases first new song in five years

Aphex Twin

The new track, titled Blackbox Life Recorder 21f, was uploaded to the Aphex Twin Soundcloud earlier today (21 June) but has since been taken down.

This news comes after new music was teased through an augmented reality app, after a post from the Aphex Twin Twitter account instructed fans at the Sonar 2023 festival to look out for “something special”.

Fans were then able to download the app through QR codes on posters around the merch area which gave them a teaser of new music.

Though the track, which was uploaded this morning (21 June), has now been deleted from Soundcloud, the Aphex Twin Deezer page reveals the song to be the first release of a four track LP that is set to be released 28 June.

The last release by Aphex was in 2018, when he dropped Collapse, prior to which the influential IDM musician had been on a 13 year long hiatus.

Aphex Twin is currently on tour, playing across Belgium, Italy, London and Bristol over summer including headlining a number of festivals.

Though the song was quickly deleted from Soundcloud, (as various re-uploads have been since) fans are able to listen to a snippet of the new song on Aphex Twin’s official Deezer here, and find the full track list of the teased LP below:
