The south London festival will host its next edition on 25 May.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are the first headliners announced for next year’s Wide Awake festival. The Brockwell Park event will take place on 25 May 2024, with the rest of the line-up still set to be announced. The likes of Caroline Polacheck – who played her very first festival headline show – Shygirl, Arooj Aftab, Daniel Avery, Joy Orbison and Blondshell, along with our September cover star Oneohtrix Point Never, performed at this summer’s gathering.

Speaking on the booking in a statement, Keith Miller, Wide Awake’s co-founder and booker, said: “We’re so delighted to finally nail down King Gizz! It’ll be 10 years since I first saw them in the Shacklewell [Arms] when they hit the main stage. We’ve tried to bring them over every year, and they were our most requested acts from our fans survey. I caught them up at Manchester Psych Fest in September and it was unreal. You will not be disappointed!”

Meanwhile, the band’s Stu Mackenzie said he’s “Fkn pumped to be back in London town for all you beautiful people”.
