Casa Batlló and Sónar’s THE CUBE to launch Music:Response, an audiovisual installation from The Chemical Brothers and Smith & Lyall

Casa Batlló and Sónar present the world premiere of Music:Response, launching on May 24 in Barcelona’s Gaudi building.

THE CUBE, a world-leading audiovisual space located within the basement of the iconic Casa Batlló GuadÍ building in Barcelona, will launch the world premiere of Music:Response, an experimental audiovisual installation commencing in conjunction with Sónar Festival.

Music:Response evolved from the collaboration between The Chemical Brothers (Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons) and Smith & Lyall, who create their live visuals. The installation will commence each day from May 24 to July 31, featuring a 13-minute exclusive soundtrack of reworked music with specially-commissioned, trippy 360º visuals.

For three decades, their collaborations have pushed boundaries in the visual world of electronic dance music, and this installation is no different.

Inspired by the tradition of ‘Visual Music’, the artists will be teaming up with the equally forward-thinking musical curatorship of Sónar Festival.

Gary Gautier, CEO of Casa Batlló, states: “We have the perfect setting to make any artist’s universe shine. A world-leading audiovisual space where artists can intervene with total creative freedom. It’s the perfect canvas for any creator and, in it, The Chemical Brothers and Smith & Lyall have designed an audiovisual experience that will enchant more than just their fans”.
