Budapest-based festival Sziget returns to Óbuda Island from 7-12 August.
Championing LGBTQ+ communities, Magic Mirror has been a staple of Sziget Festival for over two decades, providing a safe space for diverse and progressive voices to celebrate love and come together.
Ukrainian DJ and producer Dana Montana brings their unique blend of techno, trance and hard house to the stage, as well as Alinka of Twirl Recordings with her deep selection of Chicago house. Berlin-based selector DASCO and S.A Tweeman, founder of Ukraniian queer collective VESELKA, also join the musical line-up.
Alongside the music, the area is also a hub for interactive workshops, lectures, screenings and performances, including a guest appearance from ‘Germany’s First Drag Superstar’ Pandora Nox. The Magic Mirror stage at Sziget Festival offers a welcoming oasis for everyone, standing in contrast to the restrictive, anti-LGBTQ+ laws set in Hungary.
Sziget Festival hosts its 30th anniversary this year with a line-up boasting the likes of Kylie and Nia Archives. Since its inception in 1993, the six-day festival has welcomed some of the biggest acts in music to its many stages in Budapest. Initially a small student event for locals, the festival now hosts over 1,000 shows across 60 stages annually.
