The London club hosted a series of closing events last spring, after Southwark Council approved a redevelopment to turn the venue into office space. However, these plans appear to have been overwritten, the Night Time Industries Association reports.
In a post on X yesterday (25 September), the Night Time Industries Association reported that London superclub Printworks is set to return.
The statement, which referenced a new Southwark Council planning proposal overwriting previous plans to turn the venue into an office space, credited the “incredible support from the local authorities, community, the music industry, key stakeholders and the dedicated team behind Printworks.”
“We are extremely pleased to hear the news that Printworks officially received planning consent for redevelopment on Tuesday night,” it read. “This is an extremely positive moment for London’s nightlife and the entire cultural ecosystem of the city. Printworks has long stood as a beacon of creativity and innovation, not just in the UK but globally.”
“With full steam ahead on these exciting plans, we are one step closer to seeing the venue reopen its doors, bringing back the energy, passion, and world-class experiences that made it such an iconic space.”
A petition started in October 2021 saw over 11,000 people sign in support of the club after plans to redevelop the venue first surfaced.
Plans for reopening are still TBA. Read the full statement below.
