Sounds from the Other City festival announces 20th anniversary line-up

The Salford festival will take place on Sunday 4 May.

Sounds from the Other City festival (SFTOC) is celebrating 20 years of new music in Salford this summer on Bank Holiday Sunday 4 May.

The programme, curated by a collection of independent local selectors, promoters and tastemakers, spotlights emerging artists from across the UK and will take place across a variety of unconventional locations in Salford.

Highlights from the line-up include performances from Du Blonde and Grove x Toya De Lazy x TaliaBle at Salford University’s brutalist Maxwell Hall, Astrid Sonne in Peel Hall, The Orielles at Islington Mill’s event space and Martha Kether at St Philips Church. Bexley Square will also see the return of SEEN – following their day party at SFTOC 2024 – who this year will host a set from Chunky B2B Samrai.

Speaking on the milestone event for one of the country’s longest running independent festivals, Mark Carlin, SFTOC Founder and Co-Director of From The Other, said: “Like many of life’s great things, Sounds From The Other City started with no grand vision and no real idea how to do it. To reach this 20 year milestone and still remain as a truly independent, community-led platform proves that, with the right support, grassroots music can thrive even in tough times.”
