Charli xcx pays homage to SOPHIE at the BRITs

Picking up the award for Best Dance Act, Charli thanked Arca, Aphex Twin, SOPHIE and more.

Charli xcx dominated the 2025 BRIT Awards, taking home the awards for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Best Dance Act.

“I feel like dance music, electronic music, gets a really bad rep,” she said in her acceptance speech for the latter. Because everybody’s like, ‘Oh well, it’s not really that deep, is it?’ And I kind of feel like it is. This genre of music, for me, is euphoric. It allows me to escape; it allows me to feel on such a deep level.”

She then payed homage to the “legends in the field” who have inspired or shaped her music, including Brat collaborators A. G. Cook, Finn Keane and George Daniel, who joined her on stage, as well as PC Music. “Shout out to Justice, Daft Punk, Sebastian, Honey Dijon, Robyn, Arca, M.I.A., Autechre, Aphex Twin,” she continued. “And of course, someone who none of us would be up here without: SOPHIE.”
