The festival will take place in Utrecht from 6–9 November with Smerz, Devendra Banhart, Ata Kak and more on the line-up.

Le Guess Who? returns to the city of Utrecht in the Netherlands this November, with a programme that once again exists to gather groundbreaking experimental artists and platform fresh perspectives on what’s possible in music.

Today (3 September), the festival has announced new additions to the line-up.

New names include Norwegian electronic pop duo Smerz, renowned Cape Verdean artist Maria Alice, and composer and vocalist Hania Rani, who will introduce her alter ego Chilling Bambino. Legendary Ghanaian musician Ata Kak will perform his first new album in over 30 years; Italian musician Daniela Pes and composer-producer IOSONOUNCANE will deliver a collaborative original set; and Tunisian-Dutch composer and performer Skander Jaïbi will present his debut album Who Has the Right to Closure? alongside choreographer-dancer Alicia Verdú Macián, Utrecht’s Flare Quartet and the Choir Lex et Gaudium.

Returning artists include 2018 guest curator Devendra Banhart, who will give a career-spanning solo show, and Sudanese multidisciplinary artist MAHA.

Le Guess Who? has also announced a club night on 7 November, with Brazilian collective BATEKOO teaming up with Amsterdam’s Los Angles to celebrate queer communities through performances from Linn da Quebrada, Mina Galán and more. The festival also revealed its daily “secret performance” series, inviting audiences to embrace the unknown and catch surprise artists on its main stages.

Previously announced performers include The Congos, Rizwan-Muazzam Qawwali, SUNN O))), Unwound, Saul Williams & Carlos Niño, and Lido Pimienta. For this year’s edition, the festival’s guest curators include Amirtha Kidambi, Asher Gamedze, Edna Martinez, gyrofield, Lonnie Holley, Tianzhuo Chen, Valentina Magaletti and Ziúr.
