The artist cleans up in a new hyperpop set for goyo club.
In a recorded set for the platform goyo club, underscores delivers an hour-long mix that fuses internet-era hyperpop chaos with pop bangers – think SOPHIE, Ninajirachi, Jane Remover and Oklou, alongside classics from Janet Jackson, Kylie Minogue, Skrillex, Rihanna and Miley Cyrus.
The artist is the latest to feature in goyo club’s DJ mix series, eclectic cleaners, filmed each inside a real, family-owned dry cleaners in LA’s Koreatown.
The series is dedicated to giving local and visiting artists a stage in family-owned businesses across the city, spaces that “carry history, memory and community”.
It’s an apt setting for an artist whose works reveal a long-standing fascination with the romance between liminal, commercial third spaces and immaterial, dream-like ones.
Drawing from her recently released third album U, Innuendo (I Get U) flows into Nick León & Erika de Casier’s Bikini, while Tell Me (U Want It) collides with FKA twigs’ Drums of Death and Gwen Stefani’s Hollaback Girl.
