The former Crack Magazine cover star has dropped two new videos.
Kano has shared a two-part visual for Can’t Hold We Down, a Popcaan-featuring track taken from Hoodies All Summer. The first episode shows Kano flicking through old family pictures, discussing his connection to Jamaica and how he came to meet Popcaan. Episode two features appearances from Giggs, Ghetts, Lethal Bizzle, Popcaan and members of Kano’s family, all cooking and eating together. Watch the first video via the player above, and the second episode below.
Kano discussed his heritage in our Issue 105 cover feature. “Jamaica was the beginning of my musical inspiration,” he said. “That’s where I fell in love with music, really.” He recalled how he began visiting the country from the age of two, sometimes for six weeks at a time. His uncles had various sound systems, often “thumping out music from their rooms.” He added, “I just grew up with basslines.”
Hoodies All Summer marks Kano’s sixth studio album, and it was released in August this year. Following its release, Kano made his return to the stage with a tour including a performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall. 2020 will see Kano embark on another UK tour, hitting up Bournemouth (31 January), Cardiff (1 February), Bristol (2 February), London (7 February), Manchester (15 February) and more.
This year also saw the rapper reprise his role as Sully in the Netflix show Top Boy, alongside Dave, Little Simz and Bashy.
