The donation comes after Stormzy pledged £10 million to causes tackling racial inequality in June.
Stormzy has donated £500,000 to the Black Heart Foundation, an organisation that provides scholarships and grants to students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The donation to the foundation’s Each Day Every Day campaign will fund cash grants for 50 people, providing support to students of any age who need financial assistance in order to access education. The grants are available for those in all forms of education, not just university.
The major donation was made through Stormzy’s #Merky Foundation and comes after the MC pledged to donate £10 million to various causes tackling racial inequality over the next decade.
A spokesman for the #Merky Foundation said: “The Black Heart Foundation is an incredible charity and we are proud to make them the first beneficiary to receive funding from our £10 million pledge, announced earlier this year.
“Their Each Day Every Day campaign is a brilliant initiative and we are elated that our donation has played a key part in helping them achieve their target.”
