Barcelona born and bred, now London-based singer-songwriter Bikôkô has been carving her lane through injecting lush weirdness into smooth r’n’b and neo-soul sounds. Her recently dropped single, FORÇA, teases her upcoming EP via Future Bounce, A 1 IS BETTER THAN A 0. Sung in Catalan and produced in collaboration with Irenegarry and AMORE, she explores the highs and lows of creative life through the prism of a dog.
Her Sunday Mix showcases her smooth-style influences and penchant for oddball sounds and themes, layering snippets of her largest influences talking over soul, guitar-led blues and a weekend dose of Dean Blunt. Listen below.
Where: I’m in the sunny living room at my parents home in Barcelona.
What: Contrasting, blending, learning.
What’s your ideal Sunday? My ideal Sunday is a solo day with no plans. Just me, by myself, being able to do what I want when I want.
And what’s the ideal soundtrack to it? I usually don’t listen to much music on a day off, I like to rest my ears when being off of the studio. London’s city noise is probably my most usual Sunday soundtrack.
How do you like to unwind away from music? I love spending time in green spaces, even if it’s just a park. But I unwind most when spending time with my friends, whatever it is we end up doing.
Describe your Sunday Mix: It’s a compilation of songs that sound like a Sunday to me, and I have incorporated clips of some of my biggest inspirations talking, to get everyone energised for the week ahead.
