Listen to Boards of Canada’s first new music in 13 years
New track Tape 05 has just been uploaded to Boards of Canada’s YouTube channel.
After 13 years, Boards of Canada are officially back with new song Tape 05, uploaded to YouTube today (16 April).
The release arrives amid mounting speculation about the duo’s comeback, sparked by a series of mysterious VHS tapes that began appearing at random homes earlier this month. The unmarked cassette – reportedly distributed via Ochre, a music logistics platform closely associated with Warp Records – featured degraded analogue visuals, shortwave-style audio, and fragmented, layered voices. Aside from cryptic hexagon graphics, the tapes carried no branding.
Posters featuring the Hexagon Sun symbol began appearing in London and LA last week, followed by a cryptic billboard campaign led by Warp yesterday.
Boards of Canada’s last official full-length studio album is Tomorrow’s Harvest, released in June 2013.
