Barron Machat, founder of the LA-based label Hippos in Tanks, has reportedly passed away at the age of 27.
The news broke via tweets from Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never) and Tri Angle records’ Robin Carolan.
Founded in 2010, the label put out records by the likes of Dean Blunt, Laurel Halo, James Ferraro and Autre Ne Veut over its five year lifespan. The cause of death has not been confirmed – more details to follow. Below you can see some artists taking to Twitter to express their condolences.
Woke up by a phone call from a friend about the news of Barron’s passing. He was a passionate and kind person. In shock, too young to go.
