Lil Peep, a New York based emo-rapper who released his debut full-length earlier this year, has reportedly passed away aged 21.
The artist whose real name is Gustav Åhr was part of a wave of artists who gained notoriety in 2017 for blending the emotional theatrics of emo music with hip-hop.
Billboard are reporting that Peep’s manager Chase Ortega broke the news via Twitter three hours ago (around 5:30am GMT) writing, “I’ve been expecting this call for a year. Mother fuck”. He hasn’t tweeted since then,
Tributes have already been posted on Twitter by Lil B, Diplo, Playboi Carti, Juicy J, MetroBoomin and others.
Read Chase’s tweet and a selection of other below. We will update this story as we learn more.
