South London’s WNCL Recordings has been a purveyor of the finest hardcore-influenced sounds for a decade, bearing the torch for rave culture with dubplates, compilations and battle-ready 12”s. To celebrate, we’re hosting a head-to-head set from two of the label’s artists each month, split into two 45 minute sides in the mould of 90s rave cassettes.
Round two pits a pair of the label’s European representatives – and two of the finest purveyors of breakbeat-driven techno – against one another. Brighton-based Caldera kicks off with 45 minutes of knotty syncopation and swung rhythms, before Ténèbre lets the breaks off with his penchant for chunky, jungle-leaning bombs.
