As another year draws to a close, we’re taking stock of the months gone by through a collection of mixes crafted by some of our favourite artists, featuring music they’ve discovered or enjoyed in 2023.
The founder of Bristol’s Club Blanco and an affiliate of Ransom Note Records, Chez de Milo has certainly had a busy 2023. Staying on the events tip, he played Block9’s hallowed NYC Downlow along with Love International this summer, and his parties – which he’s been staging for the past five years – have brought the likes of Optimo (Espacio), Elena Colombi and Daniel Avery to Bristol clubs over the last 12 months, to mention just a few highlights.
Reflecting on his 2023 soundtrack here, he gathers “a collection of songs that have managed to inspire and excite [him] along [his] merry way this year”.
“It has been a fine year music again,” adds de Milo, who will be seeing in the new year with a Club Blanco event at the Red Church. “So whittling it down to a 30-minute mix was difficult task for me. A joyful exercise to reflect on the bliss of it, though.” And blissful is certainly the word here – enjoy.
Chez de Milo plays Simple Things, Bristol, on 23-29 February
