Polish DJ, producer and vocalist Avtomat joins the Crack Mix series with a relentless, genre-weaving entry that’s dedicated to duality. Across the mix, the Oramics and Ciężki Brokat member – and keen selector – attempts to surmise the last year, “which was ambiguous, at best”. (Avtomat was arrested in 2020 during a peaceful protest against the detention of local LGBTQ+ activist Margot).
Speaking on his Crack Mix, Avtomat says: “It starts with a quote from a Jacek Dukaj book about balance and duality in any culture’s development and keeps wavering between the technical and the emotional, the aggressive and the euphoric, the active and the depressed. It also contains a bunch of Polish and Eastern European artists, as I feel they should be put in the spotlight a lot more.”
