Canadian selector Patricia Lavender has had a steep rise since moving from Toronto to London.
Volunteering at her university’s radio station became the start of Lavender’s dive into the electronic music scene. Later, she set off for Toronto, and landed at a local station called Toronto Radio Project (TRP), where she presented her flagship show Club Fitness. The show’s name has since become her DJ alias, and Lavender has segued from the radio to the club circuit.
Known for her dynamic journeys through techno, house, acid and UK rave, this mix showcases some of the flavours she’s been spinning as of late. Putting her well-picked moniker to the task, the mix shifts from progressive rollers by the likes of Dos Ritmos and Fader Cap to the arpeggiated pulse of Trax Unit, evoking those blurred scenes of bodies in motion across a neon-lit dancefloor.
“This mix is inspired by the awakening of spring,” says Lavender. “It builds through ethereal melodies and pacing drums into some my favourite high-energy tracks – the usual things you’ll hear me play during peak-time.”
