Live from Cocktail d’Amore: Budino

Acid Italo Disco

Is there a more mythologised weekend party in Berlin than Cocktail d’Amore? It’s certainly hard to imagine anywhere encapsulating that intersection of queerness, freedom, longevity and debauchery quite like the first weekend of the month at Griessmuehle.

Cocktail will live on, but the current era ended with the venue’s closure at the start of the year, culminating with a final, weekend-long blowout for the party’s extended family. Ahead of Berlin Pride tomorrow we’re delighted to present four sets from that weekend, each one smattered with the sounds of the dancefloor and offering a peek at the special kind of alchemy that exists when everything is done so right.

“It’s hard to think we will never go to Griessmuehle ever again,” Discodromo told us. “It’s really over. No more wandering in the garden, no more hiding in dusty corners, no more chilling by the canal on Monday morning.”

They ended sounding hopeful, however. “Griessmuehle now has secured a new location, an old industrial complex from the 19th century. It looks amazing already and we can’t wait to create new Cocktail memories.”

Italian selector and a regular at Wilden Renate and Griessmuehle, Budino delves into her bag of rubbery italo and acid chuggers for a set that captures the essence of a Cocktail dancefloor as well as any.
