Crack Mix 542:
Daisy Moon

Techno House Tech House Leftfield

Today it’s the long-overdue turn of Bristol stalwart Daisy Moon, who turns in a 90-ish-minute set representative of the music she enjoys mixing at home. Hypnotic, loopy club music mixed with finesse, with some unreleased newness inside.

As a producer, Moon has released on a reputable bunch of labels including Rhythm Section, CURL Recordings (from the London-based collective) and Bristol’s own Idle Hands, whilst DJ-ing has taken her across the UK and Europe, to many of our favourite parties and festivals. In 2022, Moon launched Off-Kilter, a curated mix series and events platform that – in her own words – ”nods to the experimental, murkier side of her tastes”. Elsewhere, she’s a co-founder and tutor over at Saffron’s Mix Nights, a course and mentoring scheme for aspiring DJs.

Speaking on her mix, Moon describes it as a set “full of deep, uplifting and groovy tech house, old and new”. Continuing, she adds that she dug into her (enviable) record collection for this one, which serves as our first Crack Mix of the year. “It’s mainly vinyl with a few digital tunes in there including some unreleased music from me which will come out later this year, and a few other forthcoming bits on some of my favourite labels,” she shares. A treat if we ever heard one.

Daisy Moon plays Simple Things, Bristol, on 23-29 February
