After releasing her fifth studio album, Phoenix: Flames Are Dew Upon My Skin, this month, Alexandra Drewchin (aka Eartheater) reworks the LP into a sleep aid for listeners.
The NY-based multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer is somewhat of a shapeshifter, with her sound ranging from dance-pop to ethereal, experimental sonics and trance-y cuts. Her latest LP contains some of her signature tropes – orchestral flourishes with arpeggiating harps and swathes of choral vocals.
For her Crack Mix – aptly titled Phoenix Sleeps – she reworks her new album into a dense, foggy soundscape. “I’ve never had trouble with sleeping until recently,” she writes, “so I’ve been on the hunt for the best sleeping sounds and music.” Forget your meditation app, set yourself up for a long night’s sleep with this mix.
