Fiyahdred is on a roll. The London-based producer and UK funky enthusiast – whose work under a previous alias, Bamz, you may be familiar with – has released a smattering of irresistible club rollers on labels such as Hyperdub, Goon Club Allstars and Bristol’s Club Djembe since stepping out under their new moniker at the end of 2021.
They returned to Club Djembe this month for a summery two-tracker that finds them on production and vocal duties. And tomorrow (25 August), Fiyahdred and South African artist Mxshi Mo will share a new track, Kind To You, for the More Time label. Like we said, they’ve been on a capital-R roll of late.
This dancefloor energy continues here as Fiyahdred shares a hefty 47-track Crack Mix inspired by – and primed for – Notting Hill Carnival, which returns to the streets of west London this weekend. “This mix is a little insight into how I’d like to flow through Carnival,” they begin, “soaking up bass-heavy, percussive tunes that span across genres from the Caribbean which are [then] complemented by riddims from the UK and Africa.” Hit play.
