When Crack Magazine threw a party with Eris Drew to celebrate her October issue cover, there was only one other DJ we wanted on the bill: Grace Sands.
Known to London ravers as the resident DJ at queer party Adonis, Sands is also low-key legend of UK rave culture. An early connoisseur of house, she co-founded the Nottingham sound system collective DiY and joined the rebellion against the Criminal Justice Act when the government clamped down on free party culture in the mid-90s.
Taking over NT’s Loft in east London on a sweaty Thursday evening, Sands dug into her incredible record collection for a set of timeless, pumping and totally euphoric grooves. It’s house music for the lifers.
