Today’s Crack Mix doubles as a neck-snapping ride through Montréal-based DJ and producer Honeydrip’s assortment of “DJ personas”, veering through music from LUXE, Dengue Dengue Dengue, SIM, Main Phase and more as she offers a taste of what festival-goers can expect from her upcoming hometown set at MUTEK.
Speaking on the new 70-minute offering over email, Honeydrip (or in her own words, “Montréal’s bass baddie”) elaborates a little further, outlining her three key in-the-booth moods as: “Chuggy and glitchy beats at 100 bpm, fast jungle breaks, and off-kilter 140 bpm club music” – all of which are demonstrated within this storming set.
“I am deeply passionate about dub and reggae so most songs, regardless of genre, will have hints of the island vibes and lots of bass,” she continues, “The tracklist is filled with music from friends and my favourite producers – plus some unreleased bits from my album coming out very soon on Banoffee Pies Records…” Plug in, turn up and enjoy.
