Crack Mix 492:
Ido Plumes

Techno Bass Dub Techno

Bristol’s Ido Plumes, an affiliate of two homegrown institutions – beloved imprint Livity Sound and music venue The Love Inn – treats us to Crack Mix 492.

Here, across over 90 meticulously-mixed minutes, the DJ and producer behind last year’s Balancing and To / Fro EPs moves through forward-facing dub iterations, buoyant techno and even some unreleased Peverelist material. Each track is allowed the space to breathe and unfurl slowly, making this one for the introspective late nights; a mood-setting soundtrack to solo clubbing experiences.

According to Plumes, his intent was to recreate the “first uneasy couple of hours of a party with a room full of strangers […] melding these nuances together with a broader viewpoint on the sonic elements making up the silence between conversations and the beginnings of people getting locked in […] inching closer into togetherness” over a mix that attempts to toe the line between too much and too little. An intriguing and hyper-focused portrait of the influences behind Plumes’ own compositions.
