Community and connection are at the core of everything Daria Lourd – aka Bored Lord – does.
Coming up in the Oakland underground scene, under her Bored Lord alias the DJ and producer has found her rhythm with emotive and melodic sample-heavy sounds that draw on UK hardcore and US bass music. Which has enabled her to connect with party crews and festivals across the globe who have aligned, DIY-led principles.
Lourd has also just released Name It! – her new album for T4T LUV NRG – which sees her lean less into familiar pop samples and dig deeper into her production skills and her record collection. This is what she explores with this mix, showcasing “the span of producers” that most inspired her when she was writing Name It!
“It really spans the spectrum of both melodic and percussive with a large focus on unique breakbeat usage throughout the 90s/early aughts in the States and UK,” she says, “it’s really a love letter to the music that makes me the artist I am.”
