Polish clarinet player, composer and producer Waclaw Zimpel uses his instrument to create living, breathing pieces of music that seem to seep from their confines.
His 2020 release Ebbing in the Tide, made with the assistance of James Holden, is the latest example of his ever-melting sound. Conjuring a similar atmosphere, and using the same techniques as on that album, Waclaw’s set on crackaud.io is a remix of a 1979 performance from tenor saxophonist Joe McPhee, which was released on Astral Spirits for the first time in 2016.
