As a DJ, producer, painter, sculptor and poet, Juliana Huxtable always revels in the radical. After quitting her job as a legal assistant over a decade ago, she went on to co-found Shock Value – a hugely influential underground New York City party that deliberately breaks binaries and promotes queer and gender non-conforming artists.
Her Crack Mix, inspired by the festivals and clubs she has played at over the past few months, is a highlight reel of some of the powerful spaces she has graced. Blending booming techno kicks with lashings of hyperpop and ravey trance, it’s an hour built to shake walls and floors.
“This mix is an extended remix of recent musical vignettes that have electrified crowds in various settings I’ve played in over the summer,” she says. “This has been a magical season for me musically, and I hope some strain of this is palpable upon listening.”
