Jurango excels at delivering low-slung, swaggering club heaters that capture a haze-filled dancefloor hypnotism – something the Bristol-based DJ and producer continues with his recent Livity Sound EP An Amorphous Mass.
A resident at Psychotherapy Sessions, for his entry into the Crack Mix series Jurango pays homage to the venues he’s played out at over the past years and the memories formed in these spaces – both in Bristol and further afield. “There are quite a few tracks in here that I’d consider ‘go-to’ club selections for me,” he begins, “and when I listen back to them immediately think of spots/parties like PTS, Livity Sound, The Love Inn, Strange Brew, Crofters, Noods Radio…”
There’s also quite a few that I associate with some of my favourite European shows from the past few years,” Jurango continues, “including my first time playing De School, Open Ground and Tresor, and debuts in Brussels and Barcelona.”
“The mix feels particularly honest, and takes me back to a lot of moments playing ‘warm-up into peak time’ slots,” he adds, “of which I have a lot of fond memories. Big thanks to those that for have built and curated spaces that have enabled me to have these memories”. Driven by incisive percussion, slinking beats and tinkering melodicism, press play for a gloriously mesmeric listen.
