At the 25th anniversary edition of MUTEK Montréal, Berlin-based artist Zoë Mc Pherson performed Pitch Blender – a live, audiovisual retelling of their album of the same name, created in collaboration with multi-dimensional motion designer and director Alessandra Leone.
“For this live A/V performance, I worked with Alessandra Leone who created a visual universe to engage and challenge the audience,” Zoë says. “As an A/V duo, it was an honour to perform at original MUTEK festival in Montréal – which is one of the first festivals dedicated to A/V art and music, and [our] first time in Canada.”
From stuttering beats and jagged rhythms to muffled vocals and mangled sounds, Pitch Blender plays freely with tension and texture, taking us on a journey through unpredictable – but always deeply considered – ideas. Dive in.
Who: Zoë Mc Pherson.
What: A live show for my third album Pitch Blender. The genres are weird breaks, odd rhythms to dance to and songs to challenge what we already know and dream with.
When: Night, for sure.
Where: A beautiful theatre space at MUTEK Montréal.
Why: I don’t know, I never didn’t.
